Musical Moustaches
Posted by David Wright on 17 May 2010 - 7:18pm.
I wasn't quite sure about Neil Finn's new moustache when I first saw Crowded House on Jools Holland last week, but (excuse the pun) it's quite grown on me now.I hope he keeps it for the tour.
It make him look quite distinguised, maybe this could be the start of a moustache revival, who else would you like to nominate for best moustache in music and who would suit a moustache who is presently a regular gillette user?

Best Moustaches In Music
HJHs as Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band
As usual the answer is...
Bob Dylan.
I nominate:
The Stranglers keyboard-ist Dave Greenfield
there can be but one
Agreed
Frank wins hands down for me
Can it join up?
Okay
That's really a beard, but I'll let you have it this time!
Mr Dharma's was always rather dapper.

Bugger me. I got a photo to work. Proper size and everything.
Pics
It's good when it all comes together re pictures, took me a little while to get the hang of it!
Off topic
...but don't you think Mr Finn's 'tache is a bit Gary Neville?
Fall At Your Whiskers
I know what you mean re Neville, I think it gives Neil a sight Spanish look too!

For long service and chutzpah it has to be...
...Bill Putt, bass player in Mike Rudd's Spectrum (Aussie prog-rock legends from 1970 till today, with various gaps...).
Here's the lead track from their latest EP. Check out Bill's outrageous tache circa 2:40...
And Mike's pretty outrageous in this one himself...
Something went badly wrong with Mike Rudd's facial hair situation in the '80s. There's even a schizophrenic shaving scene in this vid, circa 1 minute in...
Who and why?
Remember John Entwistle's creation, circa late '68, when The Who were recording 'Tommy'?
I don't think it was ever seen in public.
He'd grown a quite luxuriant tach but had shaved the middle bit.
A kind of 'reverse Hitler' job.....
Zack Hickman
Bassist with Josh Ritter.
Still don't know how to put a pic on here so you'll have to google him youselves, but its a good one!
The very fine Mr. Hickman

Thanks Chaos
must look at that software!
Jeff 'Skunk' Baxter always had a fine tache
during his Dan and Doobies' years. Check the back of the Countdown To Ecstasy sleeve or the legendary Reelin' In The Years film for the evidence.
Neil Hannon
would enhance his suaveness (is that a word?), with a light tache.
I think Vivian Stanshall sporetd a rather fine one but then again, so did most people around that time.
Peter Sarstedt/Jason King (used to think they were the same person).
Massivers, there hasn't been enough jazz in this thread yet
so I'll contribute a nice photo of Keith Jarrett with a 'tache.
Ron Mael
not Zappa-esque, more shades of Adolf but an iconic tache nonetheless
Ill Advised "Cock Duster"
