Music Blogs
Posted by Fraser Lewry on 25 October 2007 - 1:12pm.
We've added a new section to the website listing a few of the music blogs and sites that keep us entertained during cold winter evenings at the Word office - you'll find it beneath the 'Hot Topics' listing in the right-hand column.
Are there any glaring omissions? Anything we should be keeping an eye on but aren't? Got a music blog of your own? Please share.

Do You Do Any Wings?
Thank you for asking. Yes I *do* have a music-related blog, it's here - http://skirky.blogspot.com/ Tales from, not so much the seething front line of popular music, but a wardrobe somewhere in the back of the spare room of the overlooked maisonette of aspirational self-produced CD and pub band-dom.
I also always keep an eye on Martin Newell's blog. It rarely mentions music, but in case you were wondering what the erstwhile Cleaners from Venus frontman and Independent poet-in-residence is up to, it's an invaluable resource... http://martinnewell.stevedix.de
I have one

Music Blogs
Hello Fraser,
I would recommend The Perfumed Garden
http://theperfumedgarden.blogspot.com/
which is always interesting, and Planet Mondo you've already got, so that's alright then. Oh ... ahem... and completely selfishly, I Am Not The Beatles, of course.

Coming up soon - a few interviews with the nice people we have tracked down. First up, President very very soon :

And let's face it, it doesn't get much more exciting than that.
All the best,
Ian TB
I Guess I'm Floating
If I could add one, I Guess I'm Floating is one of my favourites, not least for its 'Thursdays and Covers' feature which usually throws up some unusual covers.

All You Need Is Hype
I look at these ones from time to time:
http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com/
http://boogiewoogieflu.blogspot.com/
http://adeepershadeofsoul.blogspot.com/
http://thattruncheonthing.blogspot.com/
http://doctormooney.blogspot.com/
However, you could argue that The Hype Machine is all you need.
culturecrammer is born!
Only a few weeks old, culturecrammer somewhat commits blog suicide by refusing to fit into categories - it's a cross-genre arts review with a strong emphasis on music and film, in a style inspired by the Melody Maker hacks of the late 80s and early 90s (some of whom now write for Word!)
Flitting freely between ‘high’ and ‘low’ culture, it's a blog for voracious culture junkies and genre-bending eclecticists who enjoy their art smorgasbord-style, with lashings of original thought, high quality writing and most of all, passion.
See it here: http://culturecrammer.com
There are also number of high quality music blogs at Popmatters:

Best,
Steve Rylance
How do you
'somewhat' commit suicide?
Someone from here came on to my blog and left me a nasty comment
but it's not really about music per se so I suppose it's irrelevant. Sorry. I was quite annoyed though.
