MUSIC IN ADVERTS

Recently read an article about "The use of music in adverts". It ,of course,highlighted the LEVI's Ads from the 80's and the recent ones with Elvis Costello amongst others.But my personal favourites were these.(Quality's not great i'm afraid). The way the songs are used is great rather than just using them as a backing track Anyone have any other favourites ?

great post...

I also love effective music in advertisements, some of it being composed to fit (eg the latest Lloyds bank animated campaign), and other ads which are wonderfully weaved around licensed tracks. Here are a few of my faves;

Jaguar

The recent Jaguar advert with "Hush" as the soundtrack was quite special. There was nothing particularly unique about it, but the music and the visuals just flowed really well.

More ads

I'm sure I'm not the only one who can now only sing the "Maxell" words to those two tunes. And I have no wish to find out what the so-called correct words are now.

My two favourite uses of music in ads are:

1) Impulse Body Spray with Toots & The Maytalls' "Pressure Drop". Still one of the funniest ads I've ever seen. And although you could argue that the music isn't intrinsic to the, er, thrust of the ad, it does, um, enhance it!

2) Guinness with Louis Armstrong's "We Have All The Time In The World". I saw it in a cinema once and it was stunning. Sadly youtube doesn't begin to do it justice.
