Not while U2 are still preaching

Oddly enough I saw Muse support U2 on the first day of October this year in Scott Stadium. Muse were OK, but I was very impressed with the Irish outfit. I didn't want to, but I did thoroughly enjoy myself.

Yeah, it's all a bit showy and spending £40million on a set is a bit pricey - but after all - it's Rock 'n Roll.

MUSE

Massive light show? Check
Ridiculous drum riser? Check
Robots? Check
Conspiracy theories about mind manipulation? Check
Trumpet solos? Check
Lime green skinny trousers? Check
Massive balloons and confetti? Check
Starlit piano solos? Check
Instruments full of LEDs? Check

This was what I witnessed at Birmingham's NEC on their "Black Holes And Revolutions" tour.

Not exactly your average Bruce "The Glorified Pub Rocker" Springsteen is it?

Muse

They blew the roof off the M.E.N. in Manchester on the same tour.

Springbean devotees wax lyrical about his 5hr gigs. If his albums are owt to go by, they're actually only 40 mins; they just feel like 5 hours.

Here we are again with

"new" music. Took the kids to the Wembley shows a couple of years ago. They were brilliant live, can't listen to them on record, but would see them live again. No they won't be the "best" to most over 40's to my teenage son's they are unmatchable musical God's. They will be buying the re-masters in 30 years time. And the wheel keeps turning.......

Haven't seen them live

always detested them but having been given a copy of the new album I thought I should try listening to it with an open (ish) mind. Three tracks it lasted before I was screaming abuse a the cd player. Nearly went out of the car window. A Queen tribute act on a level with the Darkness - I'm sure their light show is lovely though

I find them unlistenable

Just shrieking, tinny and very very cheesy. But I am prepared to admit that if you were prepared to subject yourself to a what sounds like a helium inflected tantrum from a guitar shop employee, then you would enjoy the light show.

But I'm biased. I knew them when they were called Gothic Plague and Bagpuss Shot Kennedy, as such I find it impossible to take them seriously

Bombast

For me, they always sound like lots of bombast and no tunes, but I haven't seen them live so can't comment on that. Can't really imagine I'd enjoy it though.
