I LOVE this country!

As Richard Littlejohn
would say "you couldn't make it up!".
I Wish
that someone had made up the very existence of Richard Littlejohn and that I'd wake up from that particular bad dream.
What, this bad dream?
Eh?
What's this got to do with Fleetwood Mac?
Of course
you don't actually have to listen to it.
But
what if I missed a bit I wanted to complain about?
Pitched against Woman's Hour
Pitched against Woman's Hour on Radio 4. Excellent timing.
Keys & Gray
Did you expect them to be out of work forever because of a few lame sexist remarks? Quite a coup for Talk SPORT really.
Good call, Mr. Sam
Mind you, there's a fabulous irony about them moving to a station whose tag line is, "for men who like to talk sport." Well, the girlies'll be too busy making lunch, won't they?
'A coup'!
A coup is something that you don't expect to happen.
How can it be a coup?
Talksport
Gray and Keys will fit right in. That's why I never listen to it.
That's it in a nutshell. It's been my feeling for a while
that a lot of people here diss talksport without actually listening to it. While an awful lot of it is reactionary wind, there are people there who talk quite a lot of sense (f'rinstance Danny Kelly, Paul Hawksbee, Ray Houghton and several of the tabloid hacks who guest) especially when they don't stray from the subject of football.
But even as a defender of the channel I have no ammo here. It's interesting as well in that it doesn't seem to make radio sense: there is no reason to believe people who were only the side salad to the real meat of live tv football can make a decent radio programme and - with apologies to all my Scottish mates here - assuming Brazil is immovable from his prime slot that's six continuous hours of Glasgae on your morning radio.
I already listen to a radio station where "disgraced" Ron Atkinson is one of the football pundits. I'm beginning to feel the guilty pangs of a white guy in 1970s South Africa looking out the window at the black servants cleaning his swimming pool.
I've worked there, briefly
Gray and Keys will fit right in - both on air and with the back-office "banter".
I love talk radio but...
Sport only would bore me within an hour.
I loved Talk Radio in the mid to late 1990s, especially the show presented by the ex Magpie chap.
Tommy Boyd
He was always very good on LBC when LBC was good.
That's him
I loved his show on Talk Radio, especially on a Friday when I seem to recall he had an hour dedicated to phoning in about things that annoyed you.
Explains why I like it here on occasion!
Ah
That explains the ITV vans outside their building as I walk past it on the way to the station and home.
Can anyone explain the huge oil painting of Graham Norton dressed in royal regalia they have behind their reception desk (plainly visible to plebs like me walking past)?
Thats not Graham Norton
it's the new cover of Word
talk radio
I was living in a rental flat in S London in the mid 90s and I remember accidentally findng Talk Radio on the dial one night. It was the Caesar The Geezer show and I must say it became a regular listen for me. It was irreverent boys own stuff at times, goading listeners to ring in and provoking them into an arguments about all sorts of trivia. And the people who rang in were the true salt of the earth. I wish we had more of that sort of thing these days but after ten years of Labour's PC bollocks everyone plays it safe now in case they end up in civil court or fined in cas they say the wrong thing. I thought that whole Andy Gray business was a fuss over nothing. He didn't kill anyone did he? This country needs to chill out.

Nice of Gary Bushell to keep in touch
If you hate sport like me, just listen late at night - its all conspiracy theorists and drunk bigots (no, not the presenters, well maybe) I often use it as a post gig comedown when I'm driving home.
Talk Sport employed Jon Cun-, er, Gaunt which was unforgiveable.
Then they sacked him which was really funny and pretty much totalled his career.
So they are not all bad.
