Morrissey v NME: Who'll Win?

Five-Centres's picture

So it's all going to court. Morrissey intent on clearing himself of racism allegations.

So who do you reckon will win this David v Goliath contest?

Whose side are you on?

Frankly, I dont give a damn

Although I suspect that, if they choose so to do, IPC will be able to throw vast amounts of money at the problem.

Surely it should be

David v Jobriath?

Ha

Very good.

I find it all quite tiresome

I love Morrissey, as much as one can love an artist they admire, but I think he brings it on himself a lot of the time.

If you flirt with right-wing ideology in an interview with the NME then of course they're going to make a big deal of it.

Not having any interest

In the output of either side, I shall be watching with detached enjoyment from the sidelines.

Well as

a judge in the v Mike Joyce case described Morrissey as "devious and unreliable" when giving evidence I suspect that it won't go well for him. And as Joyce has allegedly yet to see much substantial from that case I wouldn't give the NME much hope of reclaiming costs from Moz if they win.

Still, least it'll stop him releasing increasingly disappointing records for a while.

I love Morrissey

but he is a pillock sometimes.

Hell, maybe that's why I love him.

This could have a pleasant side effect...

Perhaps Morrissey will get rid of his lumpoid backing group and instead enlist the services of Sly and Robbie, Leo Nocentelli and Art Neville.

i like the sound of that

... and perhaps there could be a dub version, in mid-70s roots style, with tons of echo and hardly any vocals. Could even be mixed by King Tubby, erm if he were still around, that is.

Well I like Morrissey

and I also like the NME* - but who's best? There's only one way to find out....LAWYERS!!!

(*not really)

There's probs a joke here about John Terry

but I'm buggered if I can think of it.

Not sure who'll win....

....but when we find out the cover stars of that week's NME will all be at least 45 years old or dead.

Bloody hell, are the NME still on about Morrissey all the time?

At least Q magazine have given up on Dire Straits. (sorry, cheap shot).

Morrissey's on a loser. How do you prove you're not racist? Submit yourself to a Rorschach test?

Or, given the bonkers level of coverage that NME has always given SPM, is this being cooked up to give a publicity boost to both the Stanley-Baker-resembling singer and the flagging rock organ?

Two, fast fading, former icons whose best work

is long behind them, duking it out in Court?

It's just rather sad really. I hope NME wins, up yours Morrisey you increasingly tedious old bore, that newspaper *made* you back in the day and absolutely contributed to the (largely false) mythology that you still earn a decent crust off the back of. Silly old Tozzer.
