Morning - feel the need for a bit of The Rolling Stones
Morning - feel the need for a bit of Ivor Cutler
That is soooo strange...
I was originally going to post an Ivor Cutler clip and then went for the Stones instead. Are you in possession of mystical powers?
Need for a bit of Kim Wilde?
"Water on Glass" more appropriate given the weather - but when I saw this video for the first time - I knew I was in love
Not recently
But I do love old Ivor - and the Stones. I used to love Level 42 (saw them 3 times in the 80s), but these days I can only listen to Hot Water as I find the rest horribly dated (although I do like the vid with the gorgeous Cheri Lunghi in it)
Love Games
Forgotten all about that one.
A real memory-jogger and a decent single. Understated Level 42 shall we say.
Thanks for posting, Sheev
Need for a bit more early Levels?
- Turn it On
'Ver Levs'
I prefer the earlier, instrumental stuff meself but I'm a sucker for the bass line in 'Lessons In Love'
Separated at birth
Mark King and Black Francis.
A wise choice
I'll see your Turn it On and raise you an Almost There.
(I've been looking on You Tube for an audio only version - the live versions are OK but a little too indulgent I think)
"felt the need for a bit of Level 42"
A phrase i never have and never will use.
Likewise
.
I went to see them once at Hammersmith Odeon...
just because Allan Holdsworth was playing guitar. When it came to his solo spot there was a mass exodus of men called Gary* wearing white jeans to the bar. I distinctly remember the huge number of Ford Sierras in the area that night as well. :)
* no offence intended to anyone called Gary!
Great shout Sheev!
There are a few of us here who love a bit of slap bass driven jazz funk from the Isle of Wight. I'm going to tie a couple of threads together here, thanks to DougieJ for answering this question for me on the Stars You Once Fancied thread.
My first date with my wife
was to see Level 42 at Rock City, Nottingham in September 1982. I don't think either of us really wanted to see them, but it was a good excuse to ask her out. I don't remember much about the gig - so it can't have been too bad. Been married 24 years now.
