More iPod Help Please!
Posted by Dan E Steel on 24 December 2009 - 4:37pm.
Sorry to be so boring on Christmas Eve but I've just encountered a problem with my iPod. I've just synched it with iTunes and it took an unusually long time, but all the cover art has now been deleted from the iPod. I can't get it back by just synching it again.
Otherwise, I wish a Merry Christmas everyone in the Massive and especially those at The Word who have provided, or have pointed me in the right direction of, all my entertainment needs this year. Well, nearly all of them.

Reset
I think you're going to have to do full reset of the ipod and start again. It's a bit of a pain if you put stuff on manually but if you sync everything it's pretty painless.
Different ipods have different methods of resetting them but the Apple site is very clear and helpful in that area so it's best to go there to get precise instructions on how to do it.
Thanks very much...
I reset the iPod three times and it didn't work. The fourth time it did. Thanks very much for the tip, and Merry Christmas.
Patience of a saint. I'd
Patience of a saint. I'd have been hitting mine with a branch Basil Fawlty style after the 2nd failed reset!
why of all Apple's fine products
is iTunes so antwacky?
I've been using Macs since 1985 and am something of a zealot but by Gawd I hate iTunes, it just doesn't make sense
I hear you
I decided to try and tide up the sprawling, disorganised chaotic mess that is my Music folder today. Upon beginning this task, I was a happy, healthy cheerful man.
I don't get why some albums seem to reproduce themselves so I have two or three copies of each song. And trying to identify and eliminate these dupes takes a bloody age.
And don't get me started on iPhoto...
Sorry. Rant over. Merry Christmas all.
but.....
Better to have duplicates than an incomplete set of backups and to have no copies at all when your PC dies on you like mine did in October :0(
Try doug
If you're an OSX user (and I assume you are) then there are loads of scripts at http://dougscripts.com/itunes/ to help you organise iTunes including identifying and deleting duplicates.
that looks ideal
I shall peruse it further and probably give it a blast after something strong to drink
thankee
Cheers John
I have never used scripts before, so this'll be a bit of an experience. As with my fellow OSX sufferer here, I think I need a couple of bracing sharpeners before attempting to do so.
strong drink has been taken
finally got round to running that script, I'll report back tomorrow
