Mitch Mitchell R.I.P.

Last surviving member of the Jimi Hendrix Experience passed away on Wednesday.

Details here.

Wow...

I'm shocked. Only about 5 miles from my house, too.

Just heard...

about his passing. Here's two clips of the man himself...

this next one is with Lennon,Richards, and Clapton doing 'Yer Blues'! Never seen this one, and it's a bit bizarre at the start! The music starts at 1:07

makes me think...

...any other bands with no surviving members?

They may be the first

Although they're a trio, which obviously makes things, well... easier. We tried to think of others once before.

Just shows

We need to cherish our favourite musicians, old and young. We might not see their kind again. Farewell Mitch.

Seasoned Drummer

Just reading wikipedia's biog of the Experience and it describes Mitchell as a "seasoned drummer on the London scene" at the time of joining Hendrix. He'd already played with Georgie Fame and the Pretty Things. Then I realised that they were talking about a chap who was 19! Unbelievable innit?

Stevie Winwood

was seasoned even younger!
