Misheard lyrics.

I was listening to Cud's rather manic version of 'You Sexy Thing' yesterday and the lyrics reminded me of a misconception I had about what Hot Chocolate were singing about all those years ago.

I now know that it was "I believe in miracles" and not:

"I believe in Milko".

TV ad....

...for Yellow Pages I think.

Remember the bloke who went into bookshops looking for "Fly Fishing" by J R Hartley.

For years and years(until pretty recently even)I thought he was looking for a book called "Flight Machine".

I blame my hard of hearing problem on my mother(hereditary).....oh, and lying on the floor with the speakers from my music centre held against my ears. Headphones were an expensive item then.....even if you did know how to wire them up.

Don't anyone be offended but...

For many, many years I thought the Blondie song "Heart of Glass" had a lyric that went "Riding high, lost in Jewish lies"

My gut instinct was that couldn't possibly be right but it was only recently I heard it again and decided to find out what she really said. It turned out ot be this bit...

"Yeah, riding high on love's true bluish light"

Quite a difference.

Another song the lyrics of which I looked up recently was "Cry Me A River" I was convinced it went "Told me love was too plebian."

I thought "That can't be right!" Blow me down that is right. It has to be the only song in history with the word "Plebian" in it.

UB40 - Food For Thought

Always thought the first line was "I'm a prima donna". Still do even though I have read that its "Ivory Madonna". I seem to recall a Smash Hits article on this as well (there seemed to be at least 10 or so different interpretations).

Ivory Madonna?

What the fecks that all about then? I always, post my Prima Donna assumption was mothballed, like Leedsboy, though it was Marie madonna, at least being a sort of logical statement. If not necessarily by an unemployed Brummie male of scottish folkie roots.
Even Robin Campbell is on record as to the indecipherable nature of his brothers diction. I gather the furore about him "leaving the band" was down to his slurring that he "needed a hand"......
