The middle name game
Jeff Beck's is Arnold. David Bowie's is Stenton. Roger Daltrey's is Harry. Brian May's is Harold. Pete Townshend's is Dennis. Neil Young's is Percival. Steve Winwood's is Lawrence.
Had things gone slightly differently around the font, half of the superstars of the 60s would have had names that made them sound like Spitfire pilots.
Excellent real names list at Digital Dreamdoor.
P.S. What do Paul McCartney, Van Morrison and Gene Clark have in common?

All three
use their middle name, not their first name?
You wonder why some ever changed them
Some artists' real names are more appropriate than their adopted monickers. Doesn't Grace Mendoza sound more dangerous than "Grace Jones"? Or Colin Flooks a tad drummier than "Cozy Powell"? Or Bessie Regina Norris churchier than "Betty Wright"?
Someone remarked recently...
...that no-one was called 'Bob' anymore. They're all 'Robs'.
There are no more Jims either
They're all Jamies or Jameses. And the Jacks are all Jons and Jakes now.
Meanwhile, where did all the Berts and Alfs go? The Berts would be Als in America, of course - "Al Weedon" even sounds like a crusty old Nashville session man, while conversely "Bert Green" sounds like he should run a haberdashery stall on Oldham market.
More Alfies...
...than Alfs, and barely an Archie left.
We're on our way back

I'll confess that Archie Valparaiso isn't my real name. It's really Archie Valparaisopoulos.
It's a classic
Brian Peter George St. Jean le Baptiste de la Salle Eno, Mr Chrome dome big brain wins again his middle name is so great it's in the wikipedia entry for "middle" names hurrah!
Who's This?
Patrick, Anthony, Henry and Paul. Although Paul's not his middle name at all.
Winston Ono
Macca's been mentioned but I reckon Beatle John did OK for middle names.
Think I am going to change my name
to Charlie Santiago or Andy Antofagasta.
Why do people use pseudonyms anyway? They trying to dodge the taxman?
The boss told them to
Not Bruce, but Larry Parnes who renamed all his stable; Marty Wilde, Adam Faith, Billy Fury etc
No, not the taxman.....
It's the risk of running into another Irregular socially or in the street: remember, we are enemies of the state (sponsored musical mediocrity)
Only kidding, Steve (or should I say Luther?)
Middle names used as surnames
Ray Charles Robinson
Eugene Vincent Craddock
There must be others.
Paul McCartney
Gordon Brown and Ramsay MacDonald are all called James. I've always found that interesting.
