Mick Jones - true genius

Sadly my 200 odd cds have to go in the loft so spent a wee while on saturday opening up a few boxes & came across Big Audio Dynamites 1st album.

I'd forgotten how enjoyable it was.

I'm sure it was released the same year as Cut The Crap which has been airbrushed out of the history of The Clash.

It got me thinking that Mick never got(gets) the repect he deserves.

Strummer was already on his way to sainthood before he died but lets not forget Joe did next to nothing music wise, apart from the Walker soundtrack, for about 15 years. I know he released a solo album but sadly I also own Earthquake Weather and its pretty dire.

Mick released a bundle of albums with BAD & his recent album with Tony James as Carbon/Silicon was pretty good.

All of the great Clash albums had written by Strummer/Jones but mention The Clash & everyone thinks of Strummer.

So lets have a shout for Mick. One of the original unsung heroes still going stong 30 years on

He always struck me...

as being one of the nice guys in rock n' roll. A good sort. But what do I know? Never met him.

Great musician as well.

Agreed. But....

...200 CDs? Into the loft?

You need to get a grip mate.

I reckon 200 CDs is about six feet by 5 inches of shelf space. In old money.

If (s)he won't give you that much room, then you need to really think about what's important in your life.

Think on.

PS:

Stick Earthquake Weather in the loft and you're only asking for about 5' 11.75" of shelf space.

Go on. It's worth a try.

I agree, MJ doesn't get

I agree, MJ doesn't get enough credit for The Clash. I don't want to come across all iconoclastic, but when I listen to the Clash now (which isn't very often), almost the only tracks I like are the ones Mick sings - Stay Free, Lost in the Supermarket etc. Strummer's bark hasn't worn well as far as I'm concerned, except for White Man & Spanish Bombs.

PPS

Sounds like you live with someone similar to my better half!!

Twice this week I've come home with new CDs (Catpower and Bettye LaVette if you must know) and was greeted with;
"Haven't you got enough CDs? couldn't you get rid of some of them? You never listen to all of them."

I ask you!!!
