Mick Jagger: Ridicule is nothing to be scared of

This is what You Tube was made for. Had a sudden flashback to seeing this video years ago. What was he thinking??? - Bearing in mind he was in his mid 40's at the time.

Hard to pick out the worst bit - open mouth to camera at top of stairs, incessant dancing, the audience (looking like they had 3 minutes to come up with a routine from the top of their heads...)

(Starts about 20 secs in)

That is....

truly woeful! I had forgotten how bad it was!

If that glimpse

of the first frame is anything to go by, I believe I've seen this. The horror, the horror... Nothing on earth could make me watch it again.

Agreed - but it *is* Jagger...

If it was Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan in an ill-advised lunge into pop, then it would be tragic beyond words. But Jagger has always been a bit of a show-off and this Thatcherite dirge is just toe-curling for its own sake because he's a bit of a pranny.

...

"That was a party political broadcast on behalf of the Conservative Party."

I notice Gary Davies at the beginning, there.

An interesting fact for trivia fans. Gary Davies was the first DJ at Radio 1 to play anything by Radiohead. He made their first ep his "record of the week."

Gas, Gas, Gas

He is, by far and away, the greatest. A rubbish song and he still gives it socks. I would suggest the mouth open at the top of the stairs is the BEST bit. It's like Mick Jagger doing a Jagger impression.

Gas, Gas, Gas

'Like Mick Jagger doing a Jagger impression'. Brilliant - couldn't have put it better myself.

I have to be honest and say that this does form the basis for my own Mick Jagger impersonation (in a similar way that Queen at Live Aid pretty much covers off my Freddie Mercury).
