Mick Fleetwood's drummer side project conundrum
There must be some Mac fans here. Should I go to Mick's gig or not?
Pros:
I am a huge fan of Ver Mac
I love Mick's drumming
Cons:
Not into 'the blues'/peter green particularly
Money very, very, very tight at the moment for me
Will probably have to go alone
Once went to see Reni-from-the-stone roses' new band and it was soul destroying
I own Ringo's All-Star band DVD and it's not all that
Anyone got any sensible advice to a man who can't make up his mind? Anyone seen his side band before?

How bad
was Reni's band?
Very bad.
Bear in mind though this was about five or six years ago. He was singing and playing the guitar. Bloke on drums weren't up to much. Can't remember the name they went out under.
Oh hell..
The Hub... Reni's band. Godawful, just godawful. He played guitar. That's all I remember apart from a sense of crushing disappointment.
I only went because the only time I managed to see The Stone Roses was after he'd left at the Barrowlands in Glasgow. By seeing The Hub I'd got the set. Yeah, I know, sad.
Yep that was the group - awful.
I must say without wanting to crow, I saw The Roses in 88 and they were fantastic. Couldn't believe how good a drummer he was and a brilliant backing vocalist too. Ah well.
The Rub
That's who they were. When I saw them I thought how tough a job the drummer had. Like the Foo Fighters bloke but arguably an even harder act to follow.
Nope!
avoid, I'll send you something if it keeps you home, comfy and happy
Looks like you're comparing apples, oranges and frogs
If you're a huge fan of the Mac – like me – just go.
Yeah, go...
Sam Fox might come on as a special guest.
I think it sounds very good
If you like old Mac, the blues band pre the arrival of Buckingham Nicks, I supect you will love it. No doubt a lot of tickets will be sold to Rumours lovers, in the same way that Lindsey Buckingham will attract folk who may be ultimately disappointed that it isn't all the AOR they love and expect. However, the wily professional he is, I dare say he will chuck in some "versions" of later stuff. I would imagine he has better access to decent musicians than had Reni then, and a lesser desire to be filling his nose than in the past.
Will he
play a solo on his waistcoat?
He was on the One Show the other night
And was quite explicit that this show would be blues-based and he would not be playing the Rumours-era Mac stuff. There will be a reunion tour to play that sort of thing next year.
