Melvyn and the Coldplays

Vernier Caliper's picture

Did anyone see young Christopher Martin and his chums on last night's South Bank Show? And, given the shedload of opprobrium they seem to attract, did any doubters find themselves being won over by the winsome foursome's unfailing good manners - and undeniable dedication to being good, but getting better?

Nope

But I saw them being blown off the stage by Girls Aloud the other night..........

(that's what she said!)

experiments

Did watch it, and it was good. But comparing Chris' new song (Wedding Bells) to the experimental efforts the others came up with with Brian Eno, it's clear who has the key to the tune cupboard.

I like them anyway

Quite happy for the Massive to weigh in on this one, but I have all the Coldplay albums and think they're full of great songs. I genuinely don't know why so many people seem to really hate them.

There are some good songs

but a bit like worst of Oasis, they're just so 'one-paced'. I like the fact that they're nice people, so good luck to 'em.

Just not my bag is all.

The Agony of Choice

granted, it was tough, but in the end I opoted for the Adrian Chiles retrospective on Jim Diamond, shown on Baz, instead.
