May I Just Say...

Mr Drayton's picture

that that flashing ad for subs on the right hand side is really, really bloody irritating?
It's like having an epileptic right eye.

To be fair...

1. The ads in that position are nearly always animated in the same way, and have been for well over a year.

2. It needs to be eye-catching: it's subscriptions that keep us going.

3. We're pretty strict about intrusive advertising: we don't accept pop-ups or pop-unders or anything containing video or audio that plays without the user choosing it to do so, for example, despite the fact that we would be paid handsomely for such ads.

this one seems to flicker much more than the others

I have propped a few sheets of paper over that side of the screen to block it as I catch up on what's been occurring here while I've been busy elsewhere.

It's the "Worth £39" flash/flash/flash that is particularly eye-catching.

Going blind is surely a small price to pay...

for the continued existence of the magazine and website. You'll just need to get someone nice to read it to you.
