Scant detail though. Any other sources or is this an internet rumour?

Sad news. He deserves to be remembered if only for Dare!

Rushent interview link

"You spend all of this money on the flashy acoustic stuff and then you end up doing the vocals to one of the biggest ever hit singles in the bloody toilet! I love the irony of that.” -- Martin Rushent

Nice interview on the recording of Dare at Sound on Sound:

I feel that should point out this other quote: "I’m also not dead, despite having once read my own obituary.”

R.I.P.

The sound of my youth...

Martin Rushent - In the studio 1985.

This is a great clip of MR working with Then Jerico in '85. Well worth a watch for an insight into the man at work, and 80s studio technology. He goes on to talk about sampling, and working with other artists.

The Members & Martin Rushent = dream-team

I was a fan of The Members and I was absolutely certain that this song would take them to the really big time - a brilliant song produced by the hotshot producer of the time.

RIP

Those early Stranglers albums owe plenty to Mr Rushent....

.....God bless him for raising the bass so high in the mix. They sound fantastic.
