I am quietly hoping that international subscribers can now happily start threads on articles in the latest Word while UK subscribers have to wait 3 weeks to catch up on the thread after theircopy eventually arrives.
Guess it wont happen though.

Straight away with No delay
you'll still get your copy at the same time as usual, it's just that the international subscribers have got the special copies without the straplines and text on the cover, and UK subscribers will be getting a bog standard newsagents copy. Mine arrived today. To be honest I didn't really notice until Mark Ellen's apologetic email arrived.

No, not why my special subscribers cover went to Tuvalu, but why it exists at all..?
I'm not moaning, I'm genuinely interested, why bother to print two covers with the expense and resource that hoovers up, when it doesn't make any difference to people who have already decided to buy the mag - by subscribing in advance.
OR *does* it matter to people, not me, just seems superfluous to me - but interested in any clever publishing reasons for its existence (and I know other mags do it too)

It makes no difference at all to me -- I say stick to the normal newsagents cover for all, and save the expense.

...on threads about this before, Fraser has said that it doesn't really cost any more to do it.
I have to say, I only noticed subscriber issues were different when it was mentioned on here a couple of years back.
A couple of my other subs (Harpers for one) do completely different covers: a different photo from the same photo shoot and no text. Hadn't noticed that either.
