Low Spot
Now, we all love Spotify, but before you go throwing away your record or CD collections and proclaiming that the whole need to actually 'own' music is ridiculously outdated, I've stumbled across a slight flaw.
It does, I'm afraid, involve B** D****, but only as an example of why things might not be as perfect as they seem. I was idly spotifying away, as you do on a quiet day off, and found his Bootleg Series Vol 4 - The 'Royal Albert Hall' concert. It's all fine, until you get to the end of the penultimate song: Ballad Of A Thin Man. Dylan and his band have crashed and bawled away to fine effect for seven minutes, then there's a bit of applause and it fades out. The next thing you hear is the snare crack for the start of probably the best version of Like A Rolling Stone he ever played.
What's the problem? Well, they've only cut out the best-known piece of crowd interaction in rock history - there's no Judas on Spotify.
If the most famous bit of one of the most famous live albums ever isn't on there, what else might be missing? I know Spotify is generally wonderful, but it's no substitute for the real thing.

Er,
I don't love Spotify. Hardly ever go there to be truthful.
That will be why
you didn't get what I assume to be a joke based on Spotify ads plugging their premium version.
But Judas is there
At the beginning of "Like a rolling stone".
I've just checked onSpotify now...
...and the 'Judas' section has been excised. Somewhat bizarre.
I'm pretty sure
on the CD the Judas moment is at the end of "Ballad of a thin man" track ... I remember trying to play it to a friend and having to rewind from the beginning of "Rolling..." to find it.
Talking about rewinding it took me ages to find out there was a hidden track before the first track on David Gray's "White Ladder" album...effectively track zero...any other albums have this feature?
2 many DJs by Radio Soulwax
has something or other like that. Summat based on 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' by Kylie Minogue.
the proverbial mo-fo to rip to mp3, obviously
Where is Judas
now that we clearly need him more than ever?
I can't get spotify where i am...
but I'd be horrified if certain bits of between song banter went missing; The Stones 'Ya Yas' album is a fine bit of work, but for me, i can't help but piss meself laughing everytime Jagger makes the comment about 'mah trawsers', or 'Charlie's good tonight, inneee'.
Essential parts, those!
Just had a listen....
and i think that it might be missing because Spotify doesn't seem to do 'gapless' albums, that or someone in the company is rewriting history!
There's 55 seconds cut from the end of 'Thin Man'
on Spotify as compared to the actual release.
