Five-Centres's picture

Let's celebrate the excellence of London bands because, let's face it, there's an awful lot to be thankful for.

I'll start

Oi! Canvey Island!

I can't let this go - I went to see the Julien Temple film about the Feelgoods "Oil City Confidential", and it was excellent. They were a Canvey band, and one of the reasons they built up their fanbase was because they could hit and run to gigs in London.

Dr Feelgood aren't a London band at all.

well it has got the

lyric "digging up the bones of Strummer and Jones" so i'm guessing Ekvis was tipping the hat.

Blimey, Chas Hodges' ears must be burning today

he's been mentioned in two separate threads here in one day!

Burial "Archangel"

walking rain-slicked London streets too early, too late, alone, scared and excited

this is what it feels like

Hot Chip "Arrest Yourself"

It's all an act, they don't "mean" it, it's all so "art-school faux-street" etc

sounds great though
