Logo a-go-go

Maybe it's because I'm a metaller at heart, but I have an undeniable weakness for lip-smacking, great-looking band logos. You know the ones - those that rudely emblazon a T-shirt and force passers-by to take notice, and those which perfectly form a no-nonsense backdrop to a stadium stage. Here are my faves - in perfectly simple b/w. Anyone else got anymore to add?

We have, of course

done this before, but I forgot this one at the time, unforgivably:

but please offer your thoughts (for old times sake)

No worries

My favourite was always the overlapping 'ZZ' bit of Buzzcocks' logo. In my youth I scrawled it on the beach at Abersoch and was delighted to come back a few hours later to see someone had scrawled a perfect 'Sham 69' logo next to it.

Washed away by the tide, unfortunately. Rather like the Sham's career, I feel.

For me it was The Jam

...the early spray paint logo - in fact it's influence can still be seen in my signature today - not that I sign my cheques with a spray can - no, that would be foolish.

Yes

indeed.

Hard to believe now

But the coolest logo I can remember from years ago was a rarely used one for Dire Straits. It was a graphic of a Red and White stratocaster with the guitar lead used to spell out the band name along its length and up the neck of the guitar.

You can see it on the back of the debut album. Very apt and very classy.
