Can one of you chirpy cockneys help a country bumpkin ?
I've got tickets for Bruce at the O2 Arena on Wednesday.
Due to the venue's location and the lack of trains out of London after 11pm, my only transport option is to drive. I'm sure getting out of the official car park will be an arduous task, so can anyone suggest anything i.e. Park at 'x' and walk etc etc

Go on the tube.

Go on the tube.

Chris G | 18 December 2007 - 9:38am

going underground

the tube does indeed run till midnight - park on the outskirts of town and tube the rest of the way - less stress all round

yankeeragu | 18 December 2007 - 10:45am

I just spoke to the venue

and they told me that Bruce is playing from 2000 hours to 2220 hours. Resisting the Spinal Tap answer (120 hours?), I make that plenty of time for you to catch a train.

No problem too small

Which direction are you coming in from?

David Hepworth | 18 December 2007 - 1:18pm

Oop the M6

Thanks for all the info
Coming down from the Midlands - last train is 23.40
If he gets off at 22.20, I suppose I've a fighting chance of getting to Euston in time, but if I miss that I will be up the creek.
Just no idea how long the queue at the tube will be

Freddie Owen | 18 December 2007 - 2:21pm

Should be no problem

I've got to get to King's Cross myself.

Ancient Londoner's Wisdom

Most journeys in London could take half an hour or could take twice as long. Buy a Travelcard at Euston when you arrive. That way you should avoid queues.

David Hepworth | 18 December 2007 - 2:51pm

Just curious

Who else round here is going?

Lucas Hare | 18 December 2007 - 2:29pm

me sir! me!

yes - travlin' down from Sunny Manchester.

yankeeragu | 18 December 2007 - 2:36pm

If only

Londoners were this friendly and helpful in person!

eddie g | 18 December 2007 - 2:46pm

There are a lot of us...

...so it's difficult to vouch for the manners of all of us.
I give directions to people quite happily, as do most Londoners.

David Hepworth | 18 December 2007 - 2:52pm

Since when...

...did Leeds become a suburb of London?

Those Bow Bells must have been bloody loud in the 50's.

Paul Waring | 18 December 2007 - 7:33pm

Merely

jesting David.

eddie g | 18 December 2007 - 2:59pm

It's one of the few things that Londoners are thin-skinned about

We're not half as rude as people say. We are, however, always in a hurry.

David Hepworth | 18 December 2007 - 3:07pm

This is just my advice...

....and like all advice about travelling in London should be taken with a health warning that things can go wrong. If I was coming by car from Manchester by the M1 I would look to park in the Underground Station car parks at High Barnet or Cockfosters and then take the tube. But before setting out I would consult the excellent London Transport Journey Planner. Watch out for quiet stations at the end of lines which close early for track repairs. Best of luck.

David Hepworth | 18 December 2007 - 3:05pm

Parking

Speaking as a local of the region, Cockfosters is particularly good, because you're spitting distance from Potters Bar and the M25. High Barnet's better for the North Circular, A1 and M1. See you there!

Lucas Hare | 19 December 2007 - 12:07pm

Parisians

get a bad press too. I was there recently and they bent over backwards to help. All very gymnastic but ultimately unnecessary of course.

eddie g | 18 December 2007 - 3:09pm

People I know have parked at

People I know have parked at stratford and come in on the jubilee line no probs. I wouldn't bank on driving to the dome the traffic either side of the tunnel can be terrible getting through greenwich etc is crap. The jubilee line is v quick to london brigde only 5 stops and then 8 or so to euston . The TFL website travel planners is very good.

Free Parking

There is a free car park in Canning Town. It is behind Rathbone Market off the Barking Road, come off the A13 at the Canning Town roundabout/flyover, take the last exit before the one that takes you back onto the Eastbound A13 and you'll go past a somerfield and then the Horrible Rathbone Market. When you see a KFC on your left, turn right and in front of you will be a large dark empty car park. Some will say you take your life into your own hands parking here but I've done it for two gigs now and not had a problem. Walk back in the direction you came to Canning Town Station and go one stop to Greenwich which is the O2 stop. When we left after Prince, there was no problem getting a tube as most people are going West. See you there.

Paul Chandler | 18 December 2007 - 7:03pm

Thank you kindly...

...sir, she said.
Pleased no-one suggested leaving early to avoid the rush

Freddie Owen | 18 December 2007 - 11:10pm

best not...

romour has it there will be a crimble related encore...now you don't want to miss out cos he knows when you've been naughty ;)

yankeeragu | 19 December 2007 - 1:07am

Leave early......

Have seen the tour already - last encore is American Land which when I saw him was the only dispensable number in the set. Backstreets setlists are showing that in Europe he has been throwing in Santa Claus is coming to town right after this - if you are not sentimental about xmas you can miss this one too and definitely get your train.

Enjoy!!
