Live Dylan volte face???

masked tortilla's picture

Unless I misread it, the new edition of The Word appears to have Mark Ellen describing Dylan at the O2 as "perfect" and Kate Mossman waxing lyrical about the Roundhouse show. Seems to be something of a change of tune from the sensationalistic blog posts!!

Not how I see it

Mark's talking about the idea of Dylan and his band as characters from Dad's Army as 'perfect' isn't he?

Kate didn't post on the blog about Dylan. They are all individuals with their own views. There isn't an official Word view of the gigs, or of other subjects, as far as I am aware.

Bob

I stood next to La Mossman at the Roundhouse gig. She liked it, I didn't. There's no party line.

perfect ?

That's not how it reads to me.

If we are on the same page (111), Mark Ellen describes how Dylan & his band have turned into characters from Dad's Army, and this description finishes with "Which leaves the role of the curmudgeonly Mainwaring for Dylan himself : perfect".

I think the 'perfect' refers to the casting, rather than being a recant of his gig experience.

Kate Mossman's review looks more like a curate's egg - "permanent bad mood and troglodyte rapping aside, it was enjoyable" ... "much fun to be had in competing to see whether you could identify the songs" ... "never seen an audience work so hard"

And I stand by my blog posts on the NIA.

Never mind

It's another chance to open another Bob Thread.

You know you're a member of the massive when you allow yourself to be greeted by four new Dylan posts daily.

Un bob wise (purleassssse), not a bad week for music next week in this household. I like the new Tori Amos, Eminem, Lightning Seeds and Jarvis Cocker albums (sorry records).
