Monye for Fitzgerald Vickery
Monye for Fitzgerald
Vickery maybe for Jones, although he may come on as a sub
Williams maybe for Wallace
Subs will be very important
Yes we do
But you seem to have two players too many.
you beat me to it
:-)
Heathens.
We must be talking about union
...there are 7 of us involved in this thread. That's more than league usually get for a crowd, isn't it?
Shane Williams
for Luke Fitzgerald, deffo.
I have ?? over Tom Croft, so in comes Martyn Willams, if fit. I think by the 3rd test Ryan Jones will have a back row berth somewhere. He's a big player and did v well in last Lions tour.
sadly ikkul is not firing
looks like he may be carrying an injury and he is overcompensating by trying too hard. Cant see him making the test team.
Jones...
...was a major disappointment for Wales in 6Nations, but I agree with you, he may well come good given the chance on tour.
I'm absolutely gutted for Stephen Ferris. He was a cert for the Test team.
I think its Ian's team
but Vickery for Adam Jones (and I a huge A Jones fan).
Subs will be
Ford
Sheridan
Hines
Ryan Jones
Ellis
Hook
Kearney
I am flying out a week tomorrow. Come on boys!!
How big...
... is your suitcase, you lucky thing? Room for a 6' Ulsterman?
We have been planning this trip for four years
And frankly cant wait. We did NZ 4 years ago and really got the bug. I'd highly recommend a Lions tour and there's still time to rob a bank or whatever to get on this one. Come and join us, Ian. We have a spare ticket to the first test....
Stop!
The jealousy is eating me up inside!!!!
Have a great time, and hope for a cracking test series.
My prediction is 1 each going into the last test, and probaly SA to nick it, but I'm usually wrong!
No we don't
sorry,just the way it is
Agree
Nothing happens. Get ball, run straight at line of big blokes who knock you over. Start again. I am reliably informed in almost every game something might happen. Never did in any of the ones I watched in an attempt to convince myself it is not as horrible as I remember it from achool.
its gods game and a thing of beauty
similarly however i dont "get" elvis. once again horses for courses.
Your thinking of...
..Rugby League. Rugby Union is a thing of beauty.
Dolly's right
Horses for courses. Union is what I played. Beauty is not the first word that springs to mind!
Agree
I don't mind watching Rugby Union but don't fully understand the rules.
I'll stick to cricket which is God's Own Game.
Understanding the rules is a temporary state of affairs.
Because they change the bloody things three times a year.
yes, but union
has been massively improved by influx of players and coaches from League. Woodward, McGeechan and the immortal Jim Telfer - good examples of those who took heed of League - and the presence of Shaun Edwards on the staff is indicative. Technique, fitness, mental preparation have all improved beyond recognition.
I have always been a Union man but - back in the day - the gane could be very dull. The England Grand Slam of '80 is a fond memory but it basically consisted of Beaumont or Colclough sticking it up their jumper. If it ever got beyond Utley - Steve Smith would kick it.
Which influenced school and club rugby. There were games I barely touched it and I played Fly-Half! 'Course I kicked it when I did...
As for the team - I think Sheridan will be picked in Front Row.
I am a big fan of Ryan Jones too. He is not as gifted as some of the alternatives but seems to rise to the big occasion. Also O'Gara for Stephen Jones
Rugby League stole that from the welsh players
who they stole from union.
And I agree England could be very dull back in the day. Just watch the lions of 71 74 or 77 or the welsh teams of that decade and you'll not find a dull game.
Hate to admit
but in the 80s and early 90s - one had to look to the Aussies and All Blacks for the best rugby I have probably ever seen. Mark Ella, Campese, John Galagher, Stu Wilson, Frank Bunce etc etc
The influence of the Southern Hemisphere sides and approach to the game has been huge
They were already professional by then
Engalnd took until late 90's and Wales to about now to catch up!
Eddie Butler's 15
Lions team, were they to play a Test tomorrow:
15 Lee Byrne; 14 Tommy Bowe 13 Brian O'Driscoll 12 Jamie Roberts 11 Luke Fitzgerald; 10 Stephen Jones 9 Mike Phillips; 1 Gethin Jenkins 2 Lee Mears 3 Phil Vickery; 4 Nathan Hines 5 Paul O'Connell; 6 Tom Croft 7 David Wallace 8 Jamie Heaslip.
Rugby
is an ugly game for ugly boys.
Odd shaped balls to you, eddie
you old wind up merchant.
