Series 1 has good but
Series 2 has been a big slide into mediocrity. The first six or so episodes have been very poor. I'm on the verge of giving up. Last week's episode, which I've only just seen, was a lot better than usual but still nothing amazing (the one about the kid who thinks his parents kidnapped him as a baby).
It's laughable
It's utter tosh. If a British TV company had pitched the idea at Tim Roth - that he was to play a man who can solve crimes just by reading body language - he'd have laughed in their face.
But it's the US so it's OK. And it's big money. It's not like he needs his profile raising.
This was the one about the American
they found in Afghanistan working for the Taliban?.
Well I watched it and I have no idea why you got excited about it. It was just another so-so episode of no great distinction.
I wouldn't say I was excited
but I did enjoy a well made, well written piece of television with the added bonus of Tim Roth acting his socks off which is what did impress me enough to feel like sharing. In my opinion it was US TV at it's best, over the top? Yes. Unbelievable? Yes. Nonsense? Probably. Enjoyable way to spend an hour? Definately. Did you really find it so-so? It suggests you have seen better on a regular basis, please let me know where I can find it in the current TV schedules.
I watch these and I prefer them to Lie To Me.
NCIS (new episodes on Friday on FX)
NCIS: LA (new episodes on Wednesday on Sky1) (not a great programme but better than Lie To Me)
Law & Order (new episodes on Wednesday on Sky1)
Law & Order: Criminal Intent (new episodes on Thursday on Hallmark)
House (new episodes on Sunday on Sky1)
Monk (new episodes on Sunday on FX)
Lie To Me started really well and I did really like the first series. I find that me and the person I watch it with are finding the second series to be hard going. The episodes are decent enough until the end and then it always feels like it was a waste of time. We then turn to each other and say, "Well that was rubbish" and then make comments about giving up on it. I'm not saying the programme is bad, I'm saying it's disappointing.
Not as good as The Mentalist
at least that's got a funny name
or Breaking Bad
which is just brilliant.
I'm with daveross
It's appointment TV for me. Tosh but really well done tosh.
Indeed so
And I think we're seeing a lot more of Tim Roth's talents in season 2 - his character seems a lot angrier and there's some good stuff amongst the nonsense.
Were it anyone but Tim in the lead role, however, Sky+ would be having a night off in the renkadima household.
Agreed
I find him mesmerizing.
