Let's Go Down the Disco

SoundMind's picture

This year my dear sister had an event birthday, and like the best events, it was celebrated with a disco. Not able to attend, I jumped at the chance to compile a mix after-the-fact, touching on some of the more remarkable modern remixes out there, proven floor-fillers, and tracks that have steadfastly refused to pop up on disco CDs (largely for fear of revealing themselves as the vastly enjoyable bandwagon-jumping exercises they were). Two sides of an imaginary C120 can be heard and downloaded here (Track listing in comments).

Shouted Out with Glee

I am compelled to include one track on every mix destined to be mistaken for a track from the television program Glee. Swingles, you're up!

Thanks for posting. Gonna

Thanks for posting. Gonna listen to these this afternoon, and may yet subject the massive to the "emotional" four-hour mix I put together my brother's fiftieth a few years back.

Please Do

I love a good mix, and would be glad to hear it.

I put together a 45-track 3-CD set for my wife's fourty-fifth, with one song for each year. Then my birthday rolled around, and not to repeat myself, I decided to make a mix of records made by performers at age fourty-five. What a load of old crap it turned out to be! Knocked Out Loaded, anyone?

Great stuff!

You've given me something to listen to tomorrow as I spend hours in the kitchen doing the turkey-stuffing-cranberry-sauce thing. Quite a few of my favorites made this list: Shame, Goodnight Tonight, Jolene, Got to Be Real, Groove is in the Heart.

I'll be grooving while I baste and mash and chop. Thanks!
