Let me tell you something

Form an orderly queue, but Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column has a new album out next month (his second new release of the year, no less). The record, called A Paean to Wilson, is a tribute to his old mucker Tony Wilson. I, for one (and am I the only one?) can't wait. In the meantime, here's something quite splendid from a few years back.

That's lovely.
I've never tried getting into Durutti Column before, and have only heard a handful of tracks, yet I've been aware of them for ages - the greater part of 25 years I guess.
Bearing in mind that I can't abide jazz, so anything too J-wordish is likely to leave me cold, what would you recommended as the starting point on a Durutti Column crash course?
Try the "Best Of" for starters ...
...it's a great overview of his entire career up to 2004. Here's the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Durutti-Column/dp/B0002XOZY2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=...
I suppose his stuff does have jazz elements, but I never think of his music as jazz oriented. I'm not into jazz at all. He also throws in classical, flamenco and rock stylings. He's been pretty prolific over the years, so there's lots to investigate if you like anything you hear on the Best Of.
My personal favourites are Circuses and Bread(1985), Sex and Death(1994), Time was gigantic when we were kids(1998) and Keep Breathing(2006).
Happy Listening.
Thanks
I'll get stuck into the Best Of and take it from there.
