Let it Be...available
(see what i did there?)
A few years ago I remember buying a copy of Mojo, which announced, nay trumpeted, pronounced and proclaimed the imminent arrival of the DVD of Let it Be. What happened? For the record I will state i really love Let it be. The Film and the album. And not just as a view of a once great band in decline( although the argument betwen Paul and George is great, " I will play anything you want me to play, if you don't want me to play i will do that, whatever will make you happy!".
Some of my favourite Beatles moments are on that record and film. I had, for many years, a very battered and worn copy of the film on VHS, alas no longer. If anyone has any insight into the workings of Apple Corps , I would love to know what went wrong a few years ago and if and when I shall be able to own a copy on DVD. ( hopefully with a bunch of out takes!)

I heard that
they dislike the movie and are happy to just let it sit in the archives gathering dust.
Also, have they ever released Magical Mystery Tour on DVD?
I know
for a fact that a release for both films is planned for 2009 and at present there are no objections from the any of the principals. McCartney is very keen on a critical re-evaluation of Magical Mystery Tour.
Magic & Loss
I picked up an MMT VHS years ago in an enormous plastic case, released by a German company (the shop seemed legit though, it was a Super8 film specialist in Shaftsbury Avenue which tells you just how long ago this was). Fact is, after a few viewings over the years, if people have to watch the whole of MMT then Macca can forget any critical re-evaluation now and forever.
Macca always claims
that people like Spielberg n Lucas told him what an influence MMT had on them when they were at film school. Which explains '1942' and 'Howard The Duck' I suppose.
The most recent excuse
was that they didn't want footage of the Fab's not getting on to be out there, peace and love, peace and love. So if LIB isn't released then it didn't happen. IT DID NOT HAPPEN. This thou is probably more guff from the press
It's out there ripped from excellent sources with extra footage if anyone should want it. Try your nearest fire retardant London market or such. The 'Winter Of Discontent' 2 DVD set is particularly good. But, you ain't seen me, roight?
Think MMT has fell out of the archives onto DVD a couple of times (semi-legally in a couple of cases) but a proper version has been planned and delayed as with all beatles projects
The original Twickenham session tapes...
...are out there on the Interweb. The original Nagra reels exactly as documented in the Get Back sessions book - almost 2200 takes over 40-odd CDs.
It's definitely a case of 'too much information' though!
I have a great rip from the laser disk of Let it Be
and I think you'll probably find that its still out there in torrent land. Top quality unlike the crap video versions available.
