In this case, I don't know whether the plan was in place when he spoke to me or not. I do know that there has never been more uncertainty in the record business than there is now. There is no longer an ideal time to put a record out and releases are pulled forward and pushed back all the time according to opportunities, whims, business deals, tours, profile etc.
Note the new Gnarls Barkley record which came out the other day with no fanfare whatsoever. Personally, I'm all in favour.
