Leonard Cohen autumn tour
Posted by Dr Yang on 6 November 2008 - 2:44pm.
I saw him in Glasgow last night (he's there again tonight) and blooming heck he and the band were on top form. With no support act they went from 8.00pm until just after 11.00pm which would be value for money from an act half the age with half the back catalogue.
Also, I think it was probably the best sound I've ever heard at a concert - I've got albums (not live albums either) which didn't sound as good as that gig.
If you already have tickets for later dates you are in for a treat, and if not then it's worth trying to get some.

Am seeing him
in Birmingham in just over 2 weeks and it is one of the most eagerly awaited nights of my year. I haven't heard a bad word about any of the shows.
Did you go to an earlier show?
I went to Edinburgh Castle. Be interested to know if he's radically changed his set at all. In fact to be brutally honest...did he play Famous Blue Raincoat? It was the only omission from a fantastic evening.
Nope, that was my first one.
I wasn't able to make it to Edinburgh, which is why I was so anxious to get tickets when I heard they were coming back.
He did play Famous Blue Raincoat, and here's a link to the full setlist for concert on the night of the 5th.
Democracy went down a storm, as you might expect, but I suppose some people might find The Future more appropriate depending on your political leanings. Something for everyone then.
A 6:30 start at the O2?
I've got a ticket for the 02 for next thursday. The start time says 6:30. Anyone know if thats genuine given that there's no support?
(On a seperate note, I'm actually going to see Leonard Cohen on my own, how sad is that?)
Martin
Doors open Vs start time.
In Glasgow (and from what I've seen, other venues too) the doors open at 6.30pm with the show starting at 8.00pm but there isn't support so it is worth getting there early enough to be seated at 8.00pm exactly. Quite a few people missed the first few songs because they were still navigating the auditorium when the show started.
I went on my own too, but that's because the only person I know who would have been interested in going too (a) already saw Leonard this year, (b) is living in the Midlands with her husband now, and (c) gave birth last week.
