Lee "Scratch" Perry

Pat Carty's picture

The Upsetter, along with Max Romeo and The Congos, is playing in Dublin next Friday night. I've never seen him live although I'm no stranger to his records, is it worth a go?

Grammy award winning forefather of reggae and dub LEE PERRY plays TRIPOD on Friday 19th March- the day before his 74th birthday.

The master producer and founder of Black Ark Studios will be joined by some of his most illustrious disciples- roots reggae vocalists THE CONGOS, and provocative lyricist MAX ROMEO.

The three acts will play back to back and join each other on stage for a 4 hour show featuring classics from the last 40 years from some of the best reggae acts around.

An absolute must I would have thought

It might be brilliant, it might be rubbish.

But it's sure to be fascinating.

And when he's gone, will you be happy saying you could have seen him, but didn't?

Get yersel' down there man!

Ire ridim an' ting!

You need to ask?

Get yourself along there!
As mentioned above, it could be chaotic, it could be wonderful, but I'm willing to bet it won't be dull.

I saw Scratch in New York a few years ago and it was splendid - he had a great bunch of musicians with him, so it gave the madness some focus,
