Last Vinyl Album
As another adjunct to the 'first record' thread, what the last new vinyl album you ever bought?
I'm sure there are people who bought In Rainbows last week or something, but for me the vinyl age ended with Nevermind by Nirvana (according to the boxes I sorted through at the weekend).
I've bought the od vinyl-only single since then, and obviously search out old bargains wherever the turn up. But an album on release? it stops with the greedy swimming baby.

chasing Pavement
I think my last NEW vinyl album was Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain. Lured by the free single.
Still buy lots of second-hand vinyl, though...
Roger McGuinn
Back From Rio.
I haven't listened to it for years. I must play it when I get home tonight. At the time I thought it was quite a strong effort but I'll be interested to see if it still stands up?
Hmm let me see
I think it was a Red Hot Chili Peppers 12" of Punk Rock Classic from the 1989 album Mothers Milk. It's shaped in the red hot chili peppers star symbol and has a photo of the band in their y fronts with an elephant standing behind them.
Quite a while back now. Wish I still had a record player.

33 RPM
I've just got hold of the latest from The Felice Brothers. In fact, bought it at their rather splendid show in Glasgow on the weekend.
It's still in the cellophane but will be opened any time now.
They are a truly great live band!
Final vinyl
Late eighties so may have been 'Yo Bum Rush The Show' by Public Enemy. It was then the cassette tape years while I was a student. No stereo of my own then.
John Hiatt's "Slow Turning"
in 1988.
Workshop
by NRBQ, which I bought last month.
You can't get it on CD, so I ordered the vinyl from Caiman. It was shipped quickly and arrived without a bent corner, miraculously.
A transfer to CD has already been done for the car.
Vinyl beats CD all round really, sonically and aesthetically, but it's a lot more effort to look after.
Pixies
a box set - aged turntable had expired during the previous year. Couldn't find collection on cassette so bought it and never played it. It looked sooo good though...
Fisherman's Blues
Which must have been around 1988.

Excellent band from Melbourne.
I'll be adding their new LP to the collection when I attend their Sydney launch this coming Saturday night.
