Lamb to the Slaughter

I know I'm preaching to the converted here but when is someone going to put us out of our misery ad kill this man:

http://www.nme.com/news/the-kinks/40103

What an utter waste of space he is.

He really must be stopped

What an ignorant moron.

He belongs on Big Brother not 6Music

Chimney Singing Crow | 30 September 2008 - 2:25pm

Isn't that a bit harsh?

"Lola" was a really good song.

Archie Valparaiso | 30 September 2008 - 2:34pm

Here's the audio

Odd that the NME are currently reporting that this interview happened today when it took place three weeks ago.

Fraser Lewry | 30 September 2008 - 2:36pm

What an oaf.

The man needs a radio 1 slot now.

collibosher | 30 September 2008 - 2:43pm

He is an absolute legend

He is a personality, a gem, a broadcaster who is not scared to take a risk.
He's a character.
He is more important than any of his guests because his Personality. He has achieved things that his guests couldn't even dream of.
He doesn't need a posse to make him sound funny, he's that good.
More importantly though, he took over from Dermot O'Dreary on Big Brother, so he's being groomed to be on everything, soon.
He's a lot of a tosser.

Mr Drayton | 30 September 2008 - 2:49pm

the links broken

I hate him too who ever he is let's get him and that we give him cow bites and the bumps and throw his shoes onto the railway oh you didn't go to our school *gets blazer and wanders off*

Chris G | 30 September 2008 - 3:00pm

Is he related to that twat

Zane Lowe? Just who are the people that employ these idiots, they are the ones that should be slaughtered!

Maybe that is a good idea for a Word backstage podcast - I mean get Mr Hepworth to interview the people responsible for employing these buffoons with no musical knowledge or interest in the slightest - and just ask "WHY???"

Retro Man | 30 September 2008 - 3:02pm

Zane Lowe

has a presentation style which irks many. However, there is some considerable depth to the man. He has both significant interest & knowledge of music and more importantly he's not in a neutered daytime slot ala Whiley.

collibosher | 30 September 2008 - 3:26pm

Yep

His enthusiasm has always struck me as genuine, and he does know his stuff. Plus, he used to be in a hip hop outfit called Urban Disturbance, who were actually pretty good. Although he went by the name Zhayne in those days, which isn't so clever.

Fraser Lewry | 30 September 2008 - 4:26pm

Plus,

his 2005 album with Breaks Co-Op (The Sound Inside) has some great tracks on it. "Settle Down" (not one of my particular favourites) even featured on a "Now Hear This" CD

davecowps | 30 September 2008 - 9:07pm

More irritating than Lamb

are those sniggering twerps in the studio with him. They remind me of the school bully's entourage. After he's put someone down they follow up with a few sly kicks.

Carl Parker | 30 September 2008 - 3:12pm

bang ,bang

Ray Davis cannot be stopped with a bullet , this tosser could be halted by blotting paper spat through a straw ( it appears to be his humour level ) .

Danmac | 30 September 2008 - 4:07pm

He wears a huge comedy bow tie on Big Brother...

... that is all.

Can I direct you all to some very fine mockery of the delightful Mr Lamb as broadcast on the Jon Holmes show on 6music on Saturday? It takes place at about 48 minutes in...

ganglesprocket | 30 September 2008 - 4:14pm

Feedback

Presumably the BBC take a lot more interest in the opinions of Radio 4's Feedback listeners. They managed to find one listener (in two weeks) who was willing to back Lamb in these circumstances, and many others who didn't. No doubt you can catch up on iPlayer if you wish...

Richie B | 30 September 2008 - 4:19pm

Obligatory George Lamb joke

Q: Why does George Lamb wear a bow tie?
A: So deaf people know he's a **** too.

There really is no start to his talents. For some reason he thinks it's radical to do sub Steve Wright In The Afternoon circa the early nineties funny noises and have a 'posse'. Which wouldn't be so bad if the office radio hadn't been tuned to 6music a couple of years ago at my suggestion, a decision which I now find it difficult to defend.

itf | 30 September 2008 - 6:43pm

I thought Ray showed plenty of humour

in his evading the inane questions. For Lamb to then play Waterloo Sunset after and talk over it with insults to one of the best and most gracious of the world's songwriters makes me really really sad. i don't want to sound pompous but this berk should be hauled over the coals for this. Surely a lot of the good guys at the Beeb must be deeply embarrassed. It's beneath contempt. Thankfully Ray probably won't give a toss. Lamb, though, should get the boot.

dannyboy3000 | 30 September 2008 - 9:16pm

It's all for the ladies, apparently...

6Music employed Lamb to attract more female listeners, which, as a woman, I find frankly offensive! the man is an idiot (and a bully, judging by the way he acted towards Ray Davies).
(source: http://www.thelipster.com/articles/2943839 )

he's a turn-off, in all senses...

Hannah | 30 September 2008 - 9:46pm

Lesley Douglas

Good of her to explain what I listen to music for. There was me thinking it was because I liked the sound.

Carl Parker | 30 September 2008 - 10:10pm

I know!

It's incredibly patronising.

Hannah | 1 October 2008 - 7:18pm

If you're angry about the Ray Davies interview......

.... don't forget to sign the petition

http://www.getlambout.org.uk/

and complain to the BBC:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/complaints_stage1.shtml

and write to Feedback:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/feedback.shtml

None of these will take you more than a few minutes, and if the pressure is kept up, you never know, 6music might be allowed to revert back to the rather special thing it was before Lesley Douglas began f***ing it up right proper.
