Lamb

so Ross's show is being replaced by George Lamb. Is Radio 2 run by complete f*ckwits?

You had me worried for a moment...

...until I checked the schedule and saw it's Richard Allinson. Unless I'm missing something, of course.

well according to the BBC TV news

yesterday tea time it was Lamb - they even had film of him walking AND talking on his mobile to accompany the piece.

Walking and talking?

It couldn't have been George. Unless he was talking about himself?

We are talking about the same Radio 2?

The one so beloved of Brian Matthew, Desmond Carrington and Russell Davies. Now they ARE professionals and worth a listen with open ears and no prejudice. The Judy Garland Trail was interesting last night (what little I heard in the car).

Mind you they also have some bloke, who's biog on their website says, "in June 2005, Jonathan became Jonathan Ross OBE, and was voted the most powerful man in broadcasting. Something he denies so obviously we must all agree with him."

He must be good then if he is better than the rest. When's he on?

when's he on?

in about three months.
in the meantime may i suggest you give mark lamarr's show a listen from last night. it's a halloween special with live music from the jim jones revue.

Allinson for Ross

Ok, he's hardly the innovative broadcaster that Ross can be when he's not holding court with his celebrity pals or upsetting septuagenarian actors but I've enjoyed Richard Allinson's show this morning.

He's a little bit cheesy but inoffensive (and I guess that's the name of the game at the moment) but he's played some great tunes this morning - Born To Run, This Charming Man, Imitation of Life, Solsbury Hil and Owner of A Lonely Heart to name just a few. He's also managed to maintain three-hour show without a sidekick guffawing at his every utterance.

I managed

about 10 minutes of his empty, inane rent-a-DJ babble before turning off.
