Lady Ma Drummer
Following Smurphy's thread on hot lady bassists, the question has to be asked, are their any female drummers who send your blood pressure soaring everytime they hit the snare or play a foxtrot?
The obvious ones are of course Caroline Corr and Meg from The White Stripes. Not wishing to sound sexist, they're both easy on the eye, but pretty mediocre on the skins. Are there any better female drummers out there?

There certainly is....
or rather, was:
Unfortunately . .
excellent drummer though she was, she was happy to get off that stool to make way for Hal Blaine when recording most of their hits.
Rhumba
Corr, she's a lot better than Caroline Corr.
Linda Pitmon
from Steve Wynn's band, the Miracle 3. He obviously thinks so too as they just got married!
We have a winner
easy on the eye and handy on the tubs
Prince may have put his name down on the hit list for calling off the Dublin show yesterday but he could sure pick 'em
and here's Chaka from way back laying it down which, incidently, is what either of these ladies would be welcome to do to me
Sheila
Yeah, Prince sure could pick his drummers. Hard to believe he is 50 now, somehow it just doesn't seem right, Prince at 50.This thread has just broken a dream I had about attending a Prince gig last night!
Didn't Karen Carpenter...
...once trounce John Bonham in a music magazine poll in the seventies?
Which reminds me of the year that the "Best Bass" category in the NME poll attracted a number of votes for "Charrington".
Who is the fox in the bubble permn
who plays on Lenny Kravitz' Are You Gonna Go MY Way. Lovely lady.
Who was the drummer in the Honeycombs?
And no-one has said Mo Tucker!
Honeycombs
It was Honey Lantree
And yes, of course the Tucker!
Mo
Certainly qualified on David's second point but not sadly on the first. How "subversive" the Velvets were!
There ain't nothin' like a Dame!
OK, so she's from the world of Concert Halls rather than Mosh Pits, but surely Evelyn Glennie deserves a place here, given she's probably one of the world's greatest percussionists of either gender?
Fanny / Runaways
And these.........
As the clip announces - the first female rock band - Fanny!
And let's no forget the Runaways - more than slightly cartoonish, but Sandy could really play.
Wasn't there also Birtha (Bertha?)
And, of course, in UK, Girlschool.
The Bangles
Cornbury this year and I'll be there
And of course Anna from The Slits, who on this clip appears to be ploughing her own furrow.
The Slits
Fabulous to see one of the Irregulars enjoying it so much. Long hair, bald pate, bare feet in sandals (I'll wager). If it's not Archie/Vulpes/Twango, I'll drink my patchouli. (Sorry, PC, I think you weigh in too young!!)
Year zero, death to all hippies? I should co-co.
Women
just don't look right playing a drumkit. Believe me, I've seen a few, including Chaka Khan and Rufus. It is the least sexy sight in the world (after Jeannette Crankie).
I'm sorry, but it's a fact.
This thread will now explode. I'm going away for a while.
Wrong.
Women drummers are foxes
Blimey
They're the buggers who've been going through my bins, then.
I remember watching totp in 1978
Hawt Saffer Chicks ahoy!
The girl in the main photo
The girl in the main photo reminds me of a girl i went to school with. They actually look really similar. Looking at the videos posted i don't really see any that are as good looking as her. I'm a huge music fan and have gone to a lot of live shows etc but never really saw a female drummer that looked to good. I just got some stevie wonder tickets i doubt any of the cover bands will have that many females in the show.
