Lady Gaga and Beyonce - Telephone thing
This video has had 12 million hits since Thursday according to You Tube
A couple of initial observations -
1) Jonas Akerlund has worked with Madonna / Prodigy / Blink 182, so he knows what he's doing. It really, really shows.
2) Madonna, come in, your time is up. Thanks for your efforts for the cause. However, there's a new kid in town and she's got something you never had- a sense of self-deprecating humour.
3) Product Placement TO DIE FOR.
4) Beyonce knows a good thing - she's doing something far more artistically risky than she'd ever dare on her own.Is white pop more adventurous than what passes for R n B these days?
5) The Daily Mail will love it - Smoking, sweary Lesbians!
6) Clever nod to Tarantino.
Anyway, observe and feedback!

The whole visual style
is a bit of a David LaChapelle ripoff, but I love it nonetheless.
Not dull, is she?
I think there's more than one of her.
I can be a Gaga bore
but I have to take this opportunity to applaud you for handing over two pages of this months issue to her. You have a balance to keep between pleasing your core readers and reaching out to a larger audience that helps to pay the bills. It would be easy to be sniffy about the Lady but her talent can not be denied and completely warrants it's place in The Word.
Indifferent to the song
But very keen on the smoking shades.
Haven't heard it yet
but am assuming it's not a cover of the Fall song?
Alas, no..
Although the prospect of MES and Lady Gaga doing a song and a video together is too mouth-watering a prospect to ignore - "Bad Romance-ah"!
I can just hear the Prestwich Shaman
yelling "ROMA-ROMAMAHHH! GAGA-OOHLALAAAAH!" through a megaphone.
I *heart* the Gaga
I think the most telling thing about this video is that mega-super-worldwide star Beyoncé completely conforming to the styles and ideas of Lady Gaga. Take note: this is how we want our pop stars, thank you very much
That Kylie Minogue
has let herself go since she turned 40. Wash her mouth out with carbolic.
Have to say that I love the "dick" comment
in the video - shows that she's a) quite happy to respond to the internet rumours and b) prepared to be sexy without the cold clinical sense-of-self that made Madge so hard to love.
Like Karin from the Knife, she is her art - Madonna was about commerce.
more on 'the dick'...
she appears on the cover of another magazine this month where, if you look closely (and i was prompted by the editorial, rather than any 'has she/hasn't she' curiousity) you can see she's got what can only be called, um, a dildo shoved down her keks.
Bet you she's
very "experimental" and /or "fearless" in the bedroom...
Sorry.
It's late.
Sorry, I loathe it
Completely tune free and about as sexy as pebbledashing.
Just another day at the office...
Mass murder? Extreme product sponsorship? Aggressive lesbianism? Lack of clothing? Barely pixellated genitalia? More costumes than London fashion week? Bizarre acting?
Yep, it's the same old from Lady Gaga. Wouldn't it be refreshing if for her next video it was just her, a guitar and a mournful ballad? No-one? Ok, we'll stick to the weird death versus celebrity fascination that surrounds her work in a plethora of pathos.
Ah yes
a guitar. That's what she's missing. A guitar. A great big guitar.
I've just wasted 9 1/2 minutes
of my life watching that? Dreadful song, with an expensive "controversial" video to get all the publicity and mask the fact the song is awful (it's Thelma and Louise that the video is referencing, not Tarantino?)
The Tarantino reference
Beyoncé and Gaga's 4x4 is the same as the one driven by Uma Thurman in Kill Bill
utter toss.
can I have my 10 minutes back now?
It's fun!
She's interesting. What's wrong with that?
