And before anyone asks, yes, it's ironic.

The master of Lifemanship would have

had an answer for you to use, I'm sure

My own favourite of his is the Canterbury Block ("yes ... but not in the South").

Nor is the typical Block necessarily complex. The beauty of the best Canterbury is its deadly simplicity, in the hands of an expert. Six words will suffice.

EXPERT (Who has just come back from a fortnight in Florence): And I was glad to see with my own eyes that this Left-wing Catholicism is definitely on the increase in Tuscany.

THE CANTERBURY: Yes, but not in the South.

‘Yes, but not in the South,’ with slight adjustments, will do for any argument about any place, if not about any person. It is an impossible comment to answer. And for maximum irritation remember, the tone of voice must be ‘plonking’.

Chez Guevara.

I fondly recall the conversation I had in the Red Lion in Cropredy during Fairport's festival with the lady who negotiated her way back to her tent by fixing on the big Richard Thompson flag that the occupants of the tent next to hers had erected. "Beardy fella - wearing a beret" she confirmed. Her tentmate gently pointed out her misconception.

Discovered a while back that

the guy who did the screen print of the now famous Che image (based on Korda's photo) was Jim Fitzpatrick who did most of the Thin Lizzy album covers. Useless pop fact!
