Entertainment For Lively Minds
Know a junkie in Seattle?
I've been buying records for 30 years and have never seen quite this...and I may be crucified by my local wax heads...but here goes...
A fantastic collection (6000+) of pre-1980s vinyl LPs went on sale this past week. Remarkable are the quantities and titles of sealed copies. Thousands of pieces from the UK.
Want to own all the Dr. Feelgood or Brinsley Schwarz or Everly Brothers? How about 200+ Elvis Presley long players? Savoy Jazz compilations, Rockabilly city, Small Faces in shrink? Country rekkids preserved like taxidermy? If it isn't sealed, it's likely to have been played once. All the local guys (other shop owners!) have hit it...but it appears that they're not currently interested in Kevin Ayers, Kevin Coyne, Roy Harper, Steve Fromholz, the Dillards, 60's Waylon, Doug Sahm, Flamim' Groovies.... I liberated a pile of Chris Spedding, Brinsley, Terry Reid, Georgie Fame...
Prices are all over the map...but good deals are aplenty.
If nothing else, it's a good reason to e-mail a pal in the Pacific Northwest.
Silver Platters on Queen Anne is the place.
