Keith Jarrett - The Cologne Concert
Posted by jazzjet on 30 December 2011 - 2:33pm.
I know this concert has been mentioned a few times before so there might be some interest in this BBC Radio 4 documentary on it, presented by Paul Gambaccini :

Ooooh...
I'll have me some of that, good find.
The Köln Concert is one of my all-time favourite pieces of music, made more so by the various factors that allegedly conspired against it even happening in the first place...
Must remember to check out that link, thanks :)
Ditto...
...thanks, JazzMeister...
Many thanks,
O Most Jazzy One.
*cough*
Stream Transport might be a good thing to employ here...
I don't need to tell you that
CaroDiario/Dear Diary by Nanni Moretti is a fantastic film. Funny, charming witty &cetera, A section of the Koln Concert is used during the heartbreaking scene when he visits the site where Pier Paolo Pasolini was murdered, finding the site overgrown and unkempt .
It really is a great film with brilliant music all through it as far as I remember and I'm off to get it on dvd pronto tonto.
You might also check out
Nicolas Roeg's "Bad Timing", starring Art Garfunkel and Theresa Russell. The Koln Concert is used extensively in the soundtrack. It's a great feel-bad movie set in 70s Vienna
Cheers!
Thoroughly enjoyed that. I know Gambo is a bit marmite round these parts but this reminded me that he had a series on Radio 1 (I think) in the late 70's / early 80's in which one of the episodes was on Joni Mitchell and was instrumental in getting me into her. I'd love a copy of that!
My bro was asking me
About this series only the other day. Would also be curious if it has been torrented.
Love the Koln concert-powerful impact in Bad Timimg as noted above, was also used in the original stage version of Stoppards the Real Thing iirc. Didn't have a copy at that time so even more noticeable
