Well, probably the anticipated response...

For me, I'm besotted with the Köln Concert:

There's magic and genius in that performance, and the back-story behind the concert is interesting too: Wikipedia article

The first part of the Vienna concert

Like the way it goes through melody to dissonance and back. Like starting at Gershwin heading out to Sun Ra and then coming back.

All of the above...

...but some of the work with his various groups he has done, including the Standards Trio (Jack Dejonette on drums and Gary Peacock on bass) is truly sublime.

e.g. 'For Miles' from Bye Bye Blackbird, or God Bless the Child (sound quality on the clip isn't brilliant, but you'll get an idea of how he can work a melody and get into a fantastic groove...)

Another superb example is 'The Cure'

My Song

by his European quartet with Jan Garbarek is probably my favourite jazz album. It's certainly my most played.

As for the standards trio, I like Up For It (dreadful title, wonderful music).

Keith Jarrett & the American Quartet

Take Me Back, from "Expectations" (1972): crazy funky. Koln is my first and only love, though.

almost timorous

the melody at night with you

a solo album released after an absence due to chronic fatigue I think. His playing is so delicate and he underplays in marked contrast to much of his stuff.

Here's a lovely version of My Wild Irish Rose.
