...has died. He played with several groups, but I was a particular fan of this lot.

Saw his Keef Hartley Band...
....at Farx in Potters Bar some time in the 19th century.
The first track on his band LP was the "sound" of him being fired by John Mayall.
Shame
I too saw the Keef Hartley Band late 1969 at a tiny ballroom in Chesterfield.
It was just after they had returned from playing Woodstock, so it must have been something of a culture shock for them.
His first album
is a cracker. Listened to it many times in a record booth before finally buying it. Side One is one of the best examples of quality British Blues. Thanks, David, for posting "Sacked", always made me laugh. How many other members of the Bluesbreakers received similar calls over the decades?
God bless him.
I thnk Mick Taylor had a stint in one of Mr. Hartley's bands. And thank you for posting that Artwoods song, that is a very fine piece of music which I hadn't heard before.
Sad news
Saw him play with John Mayall and KHB on several occasions.
Have professed my adoration of Halfbreed before on this site. Simply the best British blues album of that era and one of my favourite albums.
Here's another track. The title might seem a bit glib but I think it sets the mood perfectly (ignore the live bit at the beginning - don't know what that's all about).
RIP Keef
NW6
Have to say I'm a fan of Battle of NW6, it was a favourite when I was at school, a much underrated band. The BBC latched on to the track Poor Mabel a while back, using it on various TV trailers.
