Really sad to hear Kate McGarrigle has died. I interviewed her and her sister once in about 1986 and what was scheduled to last 30 minutes turned into most of the day as the local festival PR and I showed them Aberdeen. Charming, intelligent, witty and interested in what you had to say. I went to see the show at His Majesty's (I was not a fan) and was captivated by them - I still have a soft spot for them to this day.
In marked contrast I interviewed her ex-husband Loudon Wainwright about six weeks later - he was an absolute shit to me (though I accept in any one-one interview, one side is never wholly to blame) and easily the worst interviewee I've met.
