Just because I can

Sitting in my garden with the paper and a cuppa I was gripped by the urge to finally use the technology (an iPhone and a wireless connection) to post something pithy and illuminating just because it feels so much smarter than being in front of my PC and a desk.
But it isn't.

Well
I'm sitting in an office in Central London ploughing through paperwork and watching the clock.
It may not be pithy and illuminating, but you certainly made me jealous!
I'm making "weeeeoooooooowwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrrr"
noises with this newly acquired Korg MS-20 whilst being watched through the window by a curious goat and wondering what the Dead are doing right now.
If my memory serves me well
you saw The Dead fairly recently, unless I'm mistaken. The obvious question if I am correct: sublime musicians all and genius material to boot, but how did it feel, although it must have worked, without Cpt. Trips ?
Welllllll...
I only saw them once with Jerry and, to be brutally honest, by then he was more an icon or figurehead than, musically, a key part of the band. He was the 'spirit of the Dead'
The Grateful Dead without Jerry isn't the Grateful Dead for all sorts of historical and intangible reasons(hence the name change!) but *musically* I didn't miss him and, listening to boots of the 2004 and 2009 Dead tours - I don't really notice a massive 'Jerry-shaped hole' in the music.
Then again, the Grateful Dead of 1995 wasn't the same band as that of 1975 so maybe Jerry 'left' sometime around 1979 - if that makes sense.
It certainly does.
I've known and liked them on a casual basis, which nay-sayers wouldn't be able to get I suppose, for over twenty years. It's only fairly recently that I've become gloriously and happily infatuated and I am now digging deep in the motherload. Oh yes indeed.
James, James
Don't get him started...
It's alright, I know when to shut up :-)
I've said my piece and will now only respond to direct questions about the Dead, Grateful or otherwise.
Er
it's Robert actually, in my non-Word incarnation. Anyway, I'm off to hatch a plot for a futures Dead link.
