Joy Division Mickey Mouse T-Shirt

...

the origin of Joy Division's name and this shirt reminds me that in the 80s or 90s Empire magazine reported that employees of Disney were so disgruntled they had taken to referring to it as Mauschwitz until this was forbidden by a very strongly worded memo. They started calling it Duchau instead.

Wish they'd had these...

...when we went to Disneyland Paris last year.

Made do with a baseball cap that was said "Disneyland" in faux-Japanese/Korean script. Proved I'd been - didn't scream it. This T-shirt would have been better. :-(

Epcot

In the United Kingdom land there was a shop selling lots of merchandise for the Beatles Band + U2 + Queen + others. The only band t-shirts being sold off cheap were Coldplay. Shame.

Hooky

has been known to march into record shops in Manchester and demand they take Joy Division/New Order bootlegs and any unofficial T-shirts/merch off the shelves.

I don't think Peter Saville ever had copyright or clearance to use the image which Steve Morris has found in a book on Astronomy and the Disney thing makes no reference to Joy Division or Unknown Pleasures so there is nowhere for this to go legally (not that anyone on the band side has the funds to fight Mickey Mouse and his tremendous army of legal pals)...however (with apologies to the lovely Beany)...

I personally think it's a bizarre thing to do, and I'm not entirely sure of the motivation. They don't need the money and why on earth do they feel the need to make a few quid off the back of Joy Division of all bands? Apparently when Hooky used to lay into the other Bootleggers he used to ask them for a donation to a Epilepsy charity in memory of Ian Curtis. Would be nice if Disney would do the same in this case.
