Joni Mitchell: "Trouble Man"

Lot of talk about cover versions lately. This is fabulous. Lady M takes on the Soul Dude Supreme. Check her semi-scat around 1' 50" in. But it's a pleasure from beginning to end

Class
Thanks Sheev, you have just lined up my Sunday viewing. I have the video of this show stored away somewhere. I'd forgotten how good it is.
Amazing
when was the performance?
And nice to see Joni has the impeccable taste to do something from Marvin's best album!

Nice, ta.
The slightly 1980s-scented arrangement could be awful, but she and her band carry it off with real class.
God, she does smooth soo
God, she does smooth soo beautifully.
Thanks for posting.
A revelation
Joni Mitchell + good material = very pleasing performance.
The studio version
is on the Kyle (son of Clint) Eastwood album 'From There To Here'. I bought it on release just for the Joni track but it is all pretty good as I recall. Produced by Larry Klein I think.
I love the way...
she moves. Sensual woman, that Joni...
Good version, but I prefer Marvin's.
Really?
She's gorgeous, but a friend of mine described her movement in that performance as "mum dancing" and I'm inclined to agree.
Thanks Sheev,
that's got Sunday off to a mighty good start.
For a mo I thought she'd done a sequel
to "Trouble child" ... but thanks. Rickie Lee Jones did a good version of Trouble Man for her covers album "It's like this", wonder if this was part of her inspiration.
