Jingo Fever

Great to see Ishmael Jingo's 'Fever' on the cover CD. I first heard it on Radio 3's much-missed Mixing It back in 1999 and had to wait 18 painful months for the CD to actually come out in real shops.
It's a great track to play before a live band in order to make a pub full of rowdy punters take notice, although it's equally entertaining watching barely adequate indie drummers attempting to play along.
The rest of the Afro-Rock album is worth buying, too, in case you were curious.

Not much to say about Jingo...
(the track's excellent though, any chance of more old stuff on the Word CDs?)
... but wasn't Mixing It a brilliant programme? I used to record it religiously, listen to it all week, send off SAEs for the playlists (ah, pre-internet!) and lost count of how many records I bought after hearing things on the show... the only anecdote I can think to share is them saying that every time they played a Diamanda Galas track they always got loads of "Mr. Angry" letters from listeners.
