Aprés Wire
Dunno about that football stuff, but there's an as-yet-unwatched boxset of Generation Kill in front of me that is bearing a significant burden of expectation...
If you don't want to know result...
Look away now.
Yanks 1 - Iraqi Civilians 0.
(Actually it is a superb bit of TV...)
SPOILER ALERT!
Too late...
Quite looking forward to it!
Aprés Wire
Not sure I fancy Generation Kill.
Seen a couple of Mad Men episodes.
Heard it recommended by D. Hepworth of this manor.
It's in my local Library so may give it a try.
Other attraction is that FPO may join me in viewing.
She also watched bits of Wire so alternative is to re-watch the Wire with her, although I feel she will not stay the distance.
I Struggled A Bit With Gen Kill
Wanted to love it, and thought some of it was good, but ultimately didn't quite work for me. Am currently hoovering up all three series of Deadwood. Magnificent.
Me too...
...Have watched the first two episodes, and found it a teeny weeny bit boring. Have diverted to Six Feet Under instead.
Don't talk to me about the Wire...
my Humax (freeview equivalent of the sky+ box) just went bang, taking with it the (unwatched) last two series of the Wire. and both the Christmas Doctor Whos. And a host of other stuff...
Leeds 1 Man United 0
Lets give this post the correct emphasis - Leeds, a League 1 team outplayed and deservedly beat Man Utd at the Theatre of Whatever for the first time since Brian Flynn scored the winner back in 1980 or thereabouts. Tottenham next, although probably without Jermaine Beckford!
Mighty afternoon.
You are correct southstand.
Should shout from rooftops.
Viwed with FPO and offspring all Man U. supporters - where did I go wrong.
I confess i experienced such a burst of emotions:
relief
pride
belief.
Most of all unrestrained joy and yes the tears were not far away.
Feelings supporters of the money making machines of Man U., Chelski et al can never experience.
Supporting the mighty Leeds - what a rollercoaster ride.

Post Wire...
We watched Mad Men. It's fantastic. I "borrowed" season three of a "friend" on the internet as well. It's all good.
Was given the box set of Fringe Season One as a Christmas pressie. 5 eps in it's certainly lighter fayre, you can watch it without paying attention. Also have the complete Sopranos awaiting attention.
Not sure if you've seen Sopranos before?
I never watched it on TV & have made my way through (almost) all of it in past 6 months.
I absolutely love it. By far the best long running drama I've seen. It just edges out The Wire in my affections. James Gandolfini is amazing. I totally believe in his performance. Think I've got about 5 eps to go.
Yes and no
Watched the first two series about 2002/3, the early days of the DVD box, when my brother bought the boxsets which were physically large & pricey. So I know how good it can be. Looking forward to going back to the start with MrsDrJ who hasn't seen any of it.

I thought the
Sopranos stayed on just one 'dream sequence' series too long. As it says on The Wire box - it left at just the right time, too soon.
