I've found my musical Holy Grail - what's yours? Have you looked lately?

Neil Jung's picture

I love the internet, don't you? After many years of searching, but not recently as I'd given up hope, I have found a really great quality recording of my all time favourite band, the mighty Pavlov's Dog.

Pavlov's Dog Live at the Ford Auditorium 1976 - it's a radio broadcast so is excellent quality. There's apparently some live footage too. *faints with anticipation *

Details here. http://pavlovsdogliveindetroit.blogspot.com/

So don't give up, it may have surfaced recently.

OK UK

I think mine was the Smirks lost album. We bought the singles, we went to the gigs we waited for the album. Then they were dumped by Berserkley and it never got released. That was 1979. It must have been 2005ish that I stumbled on a download of the whole album ... and free! I feel I missed out on having it as part of the soundtrack to my summer that year (bumming around between my finals and getting a job) but better late than never. Currently listed as 973,298 in the Amazon album charts despite never having been released and showing a release date of October 2007 It never happened due, presumably, once again to record company problems, this time Sanctuary being swallowed by Universal.

Oh yes

I love the Dog (see recent post) but most here don't sadly (see recent post). I must explore the second album which I have somewhere on vinyl but back in the day thought was a pallid followup to the stunning "Pampered Menial".

You don't know what you're missing....

Massed acoustic guitars, mellotrons, violins, electric guitar, superb songs, instrumental bits, and the weirdest vocalist on the planet.

Try these and tell me I'm wrong.
