I've discovered something truly awful this week

Mr Sparks's picture

I went to the library after work this week and borrowed 4 CDs. Keith Jarrett/Charlie Haden (Jasmine), Noah & The Whale (The First Days of Spring), Karen Elston (The Ghost Who Walks) and.... Rolo Tomassi (Cosmology).

The first three are fine, but Rolo Tomassi...oh dearie me! It is THE WORST thing I have ever heard - a complete assault on the senses. Now at the age of 48, I finally know what hardcore is! I only borrowed it because I quite liked the artwork....

Try this for size and see what you think... http://open.spotify.com/track/4eChsSswmnnxXdS8z7Xa2g

Has anyone else discovered some 'music' they wish they hadn't recently?

Yes...

see my thread about Santana above. I suppose I should have posted it here.

It isn't a good record, it really isn't.

At least Carlos should know better...

...but with Rolo Tomassi it's a genre thing and it is totally unlistenable. I can't imagine how, but just say you liked this stuff and listened to it all the time, what would it do to your psyche?

completely anecdotal

but I have listened to various forms of punk and hardcore for twenty years, and I'd at least partly ascribe my peaceable nature to that. It's catharsis, a shedding of a weight, a release. It's the people who listen to Cat Stevens you've got to watch out for. They must be simmering cauldrons of rage.

Not entirely a genre rhing

I love a good bit of screaming discordant hardcore, but that track is pretty poor.

what drew you to Rolo

in the first place? it's not something I'd automatically pick up and I have a fairly diverse taste, never heard of him and I won't be investigating further

thanks for the warning

Simply...

...the album artwork which has a painting of what looks like a crow and a sudden whim to try something I'd never heard of before.

Rolo Tomassi

- wasn't he a character/macguffin in LA Confidential?

I don't know

Rolo's song Abraxas has a touch of the ole Santana about it...

Best of the worst of Spotify

Rolo Tomassi has been submitted for inclusion on this list!

There's some real stinkers on the Best of the Worst of...including Jonathan King's 'Vile Pervert' but I had a laugh at the Axe Men's Baracks greatest Hits Vol 1.

Me again Beany

I've been going through that list and have fallen in love with

"Eilert doesn't look or sound like Elvis Presley. His grasp of English is poor, and his singing ability is atrocious. Yet, this is brilliant".

Hear this one if you can!

Karaoke????

Sounds like he's doing karaoke and can't keep up with the bouncing ball on the screen! His pitching on Lonesome Tonight is about as good as my attempts at Karaoke.

My wife and I have been chortling somewhat to this!
