iTunes and Nat West

badartdog's picture

got a new Visa debit card from Nat West during the week. At 5pm today I entered the new details on iTunes - wasn't buying anything, just wanted to leave testimonials for the podcasts as DH requested elsewhere.
At 5-15 the bank's credit fraud department called to check that it was a genuine activity. I was impressed by their diligence. Apparently - maybe you all knew this, iTunes 'charge' £1.58 to check the card details are genuine, then - presumably- refund the money immediately.

Visa Debit cards

These things are a pain. My bank recently replaced my Maestro with one. The problem is that some websites just have one option for Visa, and that's for a credit card, so you sometimes incur a charge for using it. I would like my Maestro card back!

On Paypal

in order to verify your bank account, they send two small transactions to you, like 4 pence and 8 pence, which then become a security password tp prove you have seen them on your bank statement

seemed very odd to me
